Springtime Workshop
The springtime workshop allows children to discover the life cycles of animals.
Discovery Zoo will use a selection of animals from meet the animals to explain the life cycles of many different kinds of animals.
The children discover what kinds of animals hatch from eggs and what kind of animals are born live.
During this workshop children are given the opportunity to hold eggs, selected baby animals and selected adult animals (baby chicks available upon request).

Mini Beasts
This workshop is suitable for nursery,reception,year 1 and year 2 children.
Young children find mini-beasts fascinating. Invite discovery zoo into your classroom or nursery and really bring this subject to life.
A trained animal presenter will explain why mini-beasts do not have any bones in their bodies and allow the children the chance to discover amazing live mini-beasts from all corners of the world without having to leave the safety of the classroom or nursery.
Be sure to have your camera ready as you can make a great display after our visit.

Captain James Cook - Voyage of Discovery
This is a Curriculum based workshop which follows the voyage of Captain James Cook
and the famous scientist Joseph Banks in the age of enlightenment as they set sail on
the ship Endeavour upon their epic voyage of Discovery.
Extensive research was carried out to provide accurate dates and information
within this workshop. Some of the presenters who deliver the information
followed the Epic Voyage themselves visiting some of the places that Captain James Cook
discovered, named and mapped. Learn about some of the animals seen by Captain Cook and
his crew for the first time.
Set sail with Discovery Zoo and we will bring history, Geography and Science to life with the use of live animals within the safety of the classroom.

Rainforests
Discovery Zoo explores the worlds rainforests and explains that all of the worlds rainforests are in-between the tropics of cancer and capricorn,we talk about temperatures on and around the equator.

Charles Darwin and the Voyage of the Beagle
This workshop follows the voyage of the Beagle and looks at some of the most important Discoveries by Charles Darwin. Discovery Zoo uses a selection of live animals to explain Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and the origin of species through natural selection, looking at how certain animals have adapted to different habitats.

Camouflage and Mimicry
Discovery Zoo uses some amazing live animals to study the importance of camouflage and mimicry in the wild. This workshop discusses 'kinematics' the word used to describe how some animals disguise themselves when moving through their natural habitats. Mimicry is used in a situation where a harmless species has evolved to imitate the warning signals of a harmful species directed at a common predator.
